Carol Singing for Dublin SIMON

On Thursday 18th December 2014, we will be carol singing in Blackrock Shopping Centre for the Dublin SIMON Community, from 17.00 – 20.00 hours.  Please for as long as you can, even half-an-hour, would be great.  We are not looking for your money – although, of course, you can donate if you want – we want a little bit of your time and your energy for the homeless.  If you feel that your singing would not add to the occasion(!), come and collect!  We will be on the ‘bridge’ outside the main entrance to the SuperValu.

Items Needed for TRUST

Our two parishes have had an ongoing, all-year-round, working relationship with TRUST for many years.  TRUST provide medical services and clothing to the homeless in their centre in the middle of The Liberties.   They urgently need jeans, waist sizes 30″ and 32″, leg length, 31″, 32″, 33″ and 34″.   There are boxes at the back of each church where these items can be left.  Warm, waterproof jackets, warm sweaters, new socks, will all be most welcome too.

Gas Cookers Available
With the new building in Newpark School, there are brand new cookers in the Home Economics Kitchen, which means that here are some gas cookers in excellent condition available free.  Some of the cookers are for a mains gas supply and some are to be used with a gas cylinder.  Please contact the Rev. Suzanne Harris if you, or someone you know, would like a new gas cooker.

Blackrock Clinic Carol Service
is on Wednesday 17th December 2014 at 18.00 hours in the reception are of the hospital.   A choir made up of staff members has been busy rehearsing twice a week for the last few weeks.  All are welcome to the Carol Service to make it even more special for the patients.

Booterstown National School Carol Service, and Hockey Victories!
is on Friday 19th December 2014 at 12.15 hours in St Philip and St James’ Church.  This is always a very special occasion.

The 5th/6th Classes Girls’ Hockey Team played their second league match of the season against Kildare Place National School yesterday and won 5-1 – another great result.  They are now top of their league along with Wesley College who have also won two matches.  Anna Beale opened the scoring yesterday, with Loulou Little then scoring two goals, and Emily Henderson slotting home another two!  The 4th Class Girls’ and Boys’ Team also played a friendly yesterday against Kildare Place National School, and they won 5-0.

Well done!

And many thanks to Steven Hiles, and all the other parents who help out with the hockey and to the coaches.
