Over the summer months, attempts were made to treat a patch of dry rot in the North wall of the Nave. Unfortunately, these proved unsuccessful and on 15th September the church was closed with the hope that it would re-open within 3 months. Initial estimates put the cost at between €30,000 and €40,000 and the final bill came in at the higher figure.
A willing crew of volunteers assembled to clear the church ready for the builders to move in.
After one weeks work, on 21st September, the church looked at its very worst. Parishioners were invited to inspect the building after Sunday service.
