Welcome

Welcome to the Church of Ireland grouped Parishes of Booterstown and Mount Merrion.  We are located in South County Dublin within the Diocese of Dublin and Glendalough.  The group was established in 1994 but our two churches have served the local community for considerably longer.

St. Philip and St. James Church

St. Philip & St. James' church is located on Cross Avenue in Booterstown, beside the seaside town of Blackrock.  It was built in 1824 and shares its site with our parish school - Booterstown National School  - the Parish Centre, the Barrett Cheshire Home and the Rectory.

Our church has served the local community for over 175 years and is an integral part of family life in the area.  With such close relationship with the school, the parish provides a focal point for young families living nearby.  Our parish centre is used by many groups for social, sporting and educational purposes.

St. Thomas' is located at the intersection of Foster Avenue and the Stillorgan dual carriageway, right opposite the St. Helen's Radisson Hotel.  It was dedicated in 1874 as a chapel of Ease to the Parish church of Taney.

Mount Merrion was created as an independent parish in 1956 and therefore is celebrating its Jubilee in 2006. The church was enlarged in 1965 and accommodates approximately 160 people. It contains a series of beautiful stained glass windows. It shares its site with the Monk Gibbon Hall and our joint parish office.

Thank you for visiting our parish website - we hope you have found it useful and look forward to welcoming you to our parish some day soon.  Please note that details of our service times are listed below.

Yours in Christ.

Rev. Gillian Wharton

Rector
