Welcome to our school

Booterstown National School

Booterstown National School was founded in 1890 and moved into our present building in 1956 and over the years has build up an outstanding reputation for excellence in primary education. The school is well regarded within Irish educational circles and has become a vibrant component of the local community.

The school is a co-educational national school under the patronage of the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin and subject to the rules and regulations of the Department of Education and Science.  It caters for pupils from Junior Infants class through to 6th class.  The work of the school is conducted in the atmosphere of tolerance and respect for religious differences.

The Board of Management and the staff seek to create a Christian ethos and approach within the school.  Drama, the Visual Arts, English and Irish are just some of the areas in which religious concepts may occur and be discussed or used as a basis for work, within a Christian context.

Pupils are expected to take part in the whole life of the school, including Religious Education.  Religious Education classes are based on the curriculum for Religious Education devised by the Board of Education of the General Synod of the Church of Ireland.  Pupils attend morning assembly in the church once a week.  The end of each term is marked by a service in which the pupils take part and to which all parents/guardians and friends are invited.  The school also takes part in other church services during the year.

Booterstown National School is a community where all pupils are equally respected and valued.  Pupils experience and share a sense of caring and belonging.  They are treated fairly and their spiritual, moral and religious development is encouraged, as is their intellectual, social and academic development.
